This past weekend my daughter convinced me to go to Broadway and finally see The Color Purple featuring a tiny little woman named Cynthia Erivo.
Now I knew the show was a powerful one and I even packed some tissues as I expected to need them…
But what I didn’t expect was for the full on rush of emotion that the show brought me as I thought of my own life…and own battles with SELF ACCEPTANCE.
Of knowing WHO I AM and WHAT i STAND FOR.
And most of all for finding SELF LOVE.
It took years and I still battle.
But now I have something to listen to when I struggle.
Read these lyrics….and listen to the song.
And USE IT….if it helps.
I know it sure helps me.
I believe i have inside of me
Everything that i need to live a bountiful life.
With all the love alive in me
I’ll stand as tall as the tallest tree.
And i’m
Thankful for everyday that i’m given,
Both the easy and hard ones i’m livin’.
But most of all
I’m thankful for
Loving who i really am.
I’m beautiful.
Yes, i’m beautiful,
And i’m here.
I Am Here

Thanks Diane!
The music and lyrics both moved me! I know I’m not supposed to say that as a man….
Your words also hit home for me too! I guess I’m a male version of you! Is that weird or what?
Gotta go….I’m going to listen to the song again…need it today…
Thanks again!-
Not weird at all!
